E.Yardley Neighbourhood Forum

Campaigning

Some of the Neighbourhood Forum successes and issues we have recently campaigned on in the last twelve months:

  • A Zebra Crossing in Sedgemere Road
  • Random Police Speed Checks around the area
  • The installation of a mini roundabout and zebra crossing on Queens Road
  • Funding for Two way radio’s for Poolway Traders Association
  • Supported the residents campaign regarding the new developments on Kents Moat  Recreation Gound

We have successfully supported our local Sheldon fire station when it was recently threatened with closure.

Grass Verge Destruction

A major problem in our area as in most other parts of the city of Birmingham is the destruction of our grass verges by inconsiderate motorists. This problem must be addressed now.

East Yardley Neighbourhood Forum is interested in hearing from any of our residents suffering because of this problem. Please contact us with details.

Police get tough on reckless drivers in Sheldon

Police officers in Sheldon have been cracking down on careless drivers. The Garretts Green Neighbourhood Policing Team. carried out an operation in conjunction with East Yardley Neighbourhood Forum and the Road Policing Unit.

The operation concentrated on Sedgemere Road in Sheldon which has been affected by speeding motorists.

PC Ben Norbury, based at Sheldon police station, said; “The operation was very effective and during that day 15 cars were stopped and fixed penalty notices were issued to some drivers. Two were fined for excess speed, one for driving whilst using a mobile phone and one for not wearing a seatbelt. Three people were also arrested for possession of drugs.”

No what im saying is that it needs to be slowed down instead of just wasting money retarmacing it traffic calming could have been implimented at the same time.

Sorry that is not what your first email said at all

Dear Mr Powell
There is a meeting on the 24th November 09, at the yardley Old Hall starting at 7.30pm -9pm to talk about the speeding cars and the problems people are having with the social club, the police and local councillors will be at this meeting to hear and deal with these issues

On behalf of all the residents who live on Sedgemere road Yardley we would like to thank who ever it was to re lay the road with new tarmac on the 21st of August 2009.

It is now the best road in Yardley and Sheldon and now drivers can now put there foot down even more. I am writing this on Sunday 22nd August 2009 and can hear them racing up and down with no problens of bumps or pot holes.

Thanks for the great support of our local council,s great support.
Yours an unhappy resident

Dear Mr Powell
This an email I have recived from someone else who lives on Sedgmere Road.

Sorry Eddie…….

On behalf of all the residents? This is the first I have heard about it! I haven’t noticed any difference, it’s the same as always.

I’ll certainly keep my ears open and let you know if it changes ok?
Is this man saying that Sedgemere Road didn’t need to be re-done?
